Gerhard Hummer, Director of our Department of Theoretical Biophysics and Professor at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, is one of the highly cited researchers in different fields (category “cross-field”). Our Max Planck Fellow Ivan Đikić, Director of the Institute of Biochemistry II at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, is also among the highly cited researchers. The current citation ranking of the “Web of Science” by Clarivate Analytics lists almost 7000 scientists in the life sciences whose published research results have been cited the most in publications in their own or across different fields.

A high number of citations is an indicator of meaningful scientific findings and high-quality research. The most cited researchers belong to the most renowned in their field and make a significant contribution to expanding our forntiers of knowledge and progressing medical and technological developments and innovation in our society.

Gerhard Hummer uses computaitonal and theoretical methods to investigate and visualize the structure, dynamics and function of biomolecules. In this way, he contributes to the understanding of important biological processes in our bodies.
